Butternut

This squash is characterized by its sweet, nutty taste, similar to that of a pumpkin, and has tan-yellow skin with orange fleshy pulp. A medium-sized winter squash, it usually weighs about 3 to 5 pounds and is a variety of Cucurbita moschata, which includes other squashes and pumpkins like crookneck squash, fairytale pumpkins, and Dickinson pumpkins. The butternut squash originated in Massachusetts as a crossbreed between the Canadian crookneck and the Hubbard squash
