Certainly, our work doesn’t stop at the garden’s edge. In an exciting collaboration with the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation, we have expanded our impact to the sphere of education by developing outdoor classrooms in Soweto and other marginalized areas. These innovative spaces are designed to provide a holistic approach to learning, connecting the dots between agriculture, sustainability, and education.

In these outdoor classrooms, participants are not just learning about horticulture; they are also gaining hands-on experience in sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. The classrooms serve as a dynamic learning environment where members of the community, especially the youth, can engage with the natural world and learn about the importance of food security and sustainable living.

This initiative is more than just an educational venture; it’s a space where knowledge and practical skills converge, fostering a sense of empowerment and community spirit. It embodies our commitment to nurturing growth, both in the gardens we cultivate and in the minds we educate.

At Manger Care Centre (MCC), we’re proud to be proactive in addressing the critical issue of food insecurity. Our efforts have borne fruit, as we’ve provided assistance to over 90 cooperatives with training and the development of food gardens, which serve to sustain not only the cooperative members but also their families and the wider communities.

Thanks to the generosity of individual donors and corporate sponsors, our impact extends beyond planting seeds. We have successfully implemented vital infrastructure projects, such as the drilling of boreholes, and the installation of pumps and tanks, along with irrigation systems to ensure these gardens thrive.
